About Glenn Aure

Born and raised in the Bay Area, DJ Glenn Aure has always loved and appreciated music. Glenn learned how to play the drums at the early age of 9, which helped him understand the  theory of measures, tempo, and syncopation. This would come in handy as he gravitated  towards learning the different aspects of a DJ. Glenn played his older siblings’ record collection  which introduced him to everything from Funk, Soul, Jazz, and Pop music. Obsessed with music, Glenn also began collecting his own vinyl to start building up his own collection of  music. Inspired by DJ legends on the radio (Cameron Paul, Michael Erickson, Alex Mejia, Theo),  Glenn continued to work on his craft and carving out his own style of DJ’ing.

In 1991, Glenn participated in the Bay Area’s 106 KMEL Radio “Battle Of The DJs” contest which he  won and earned a guest spot on the station. That guest spot eventually led to a permanent weekend mixshow slot on the station. Glenn was eventually asked by Sway to be his DJ on the  weekly KMEL 10’oclock Bomb show, which centered around highlighting new music and artists.  They helped introduce and break many artists and songs on this platform. A bigger break for Glenn would come in 1994 as Sway was promoted to Morning Drive and brought Glenn in as his Morning Show DJ. Glenn was heard daily in the mix, providing that music soundtrack to Bay Area listeners.

After a few years of doing Morning Drive, Sway left KMEL for MTV. Glenn was then propelled into becoming Music Director for KMEL. As the station’s Music Director, Glenn was responsible for choosing and programming what music got played on the station. He helped  mold the sound of KMEL and the Bay Area. As Hip Hop and R&B culture grew in the 90s, Glenn and his fellow “All Star Djs” crew were responsible for breaking many artists and songs both locally and nationally.

After a successful run in radio, Glenn left KMEL in 2001 to further expand his role in the music industry by becoming National Director of Promotions at Capitol Records. At Capitol, he helped  break more records from artists like Snoop Dogg, Westside Connection, Chingy, Letoya Luckett,  Dilated Peoples and many more. Glenn also worked for labels such as Epic, Republic, and Def Jam  Records, serving as Radio Promotions for these companies. Glenn returned to the Bay Area at the end of 2022 to continue his work in radio and reconnect with the community that helped pave the way of his early career. These days, you can catch Glenn’s radio mixshows on 102 Jams SF, V101 Sacramento, Bayology Radio, KBOS Fresno, KDON Monterey, KCAQ Oxnard, KXJM Portland, KPEZ Austin, KWYL Reno, as well as guest appearances on Twitch.tv and local venues.
